Here I am in Ketchikan, Alaska in May 2013 |
History has always been my favorite subject and I have a passion for teaching others about events and people of our past. Through my experience doing genealogical research and volunteering at local museums, I found that public history was the route I wanted to pursue because of that connection with the past and the ability to reach a wide audience. I earned my B.A. in history with a concentration in secondary education from Nevada State College and earned a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University.
For two years, I volunteered at the Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a Collections Volunteer, I have gained experience with PastPerfect, have scanned documents, photos, and slides, completely accessioned incoming collections, and participated in public events in the museum. During my internship at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas, I completed a case exhibit about Nevada's homefront contributions to World War II, which was displayed from March 2014 - June 2015.
